Description

Paul Jaboulet Aine Cotes du Rhone Parallele 45 2016 “Organic”

Paul Jaboulet Aine Cotes du Rhone Parallele 45 2016 “Organic” , The signature red from legendary Northern Rhône producer Paul Jaboulet Aîné, this Côtes du Rhône is immensely pleasurable with notes of wild berries, white pepper, lavender and cherries. Parallèle 45 is a floral and juicy beauty that delivers unmistakable Syrah and Grenache love in a gorgeously balanced package.

Domaine Paul Jaboulet Côtes du Rhône Rouge Parallèle 45 2016 is named after the 45th Parallel, which crosses the Rhone Valley, passing through some of the estates and vineyards belonging to Maison Paul Jaboulet Aine. A typical southern blend of Grenache 55%, Syrah 40%, and mixed grape varietals (Mourvedre, Carignan, Cinsault) 5% has ripe berry fruits aromas, some Indian spices and a smooth complexity. Best enjoyed young.

The dark red black tinged core shows good depth with a dark red black tinged hue. Elevated ripe black cherry, black raspberry and liquorice scents are trailed by earthy incense characters and pepper. Medium-bodied, generous black cherry and liquorice flavours sit over scorched earth, infusions of incense and spicy pepper characters. Dryish finish with slightly chewy but ripe tannins. Aftertaste of peppered black cherries and liquorice, scorched earthy incense and spice.

Mention the Rhône Valley to anyone around the world and a small chapel perched upon a vine-clad hill is likely to be one of the first images that spring to mind. Not only is the image romantic, but it is also so closely associated with being one of the best Syrahs in the world, it evokes a myriad of emotions – admiration, respect, envy and desire. Winemakers around the globe aspire to make Syrahs of this complexity and intensity, such as the reverence in which it is held. La Chapelle in Hermitage is one of the finest and most iconic vineyards in the world. It belongs to Paul Jaboulet Aîné.
