A De Fussigny Cognac
A. de Fussigny Cognac is the epitome of fine drinking. More than just a brandy, A. de Fussigny is an exceptional, top-of-the-range spirit that offers an unmatched taste.
The complex aromas and sophisticated flavours of this brand have made it a must-have for true brandy connoisseurs. From the A. de Fussigny Selection Cognac to the A. de Fussigny XO cognac, our collection contains the finest cognac France has to offer.
Heritage and Location
Established in 1814 at the heart of Cognac, France, the Fussigny Distillery’s prime location puts it on the banks of the iconic Charente River. It is here where merchant barges used to pass, carrying precious wines and eaux-de-vie (a clear, colourless fruit brandy) from upstream.
The estate’s 200-year-old cellars have a particularly humid climate thanks to their close proximity to the river. This humidity results in quality maturation, creating a high-quality and unique character for Fussigny’s cognac.
Tasting notes
A. de Fussigny cognacs often feature complex flavours like candied fruits and gourmet pastry notes, reflecting their meticulous blending and ageing processes.
Product range
A. de Fussigny offers a wide selection of cognacs divided into four distinct collections.
Les Classiques
Hailing from the Grande and Petite Champagne regions, the classics are praised for the quality of their aged eaux-de-vie, their aromatic complexity and their balanced flavours.
A. de Fussigny Selection Cognac
This summery blend of young eaux-de-vie tingles the nose with the fresh smell of acacia honey and faint notes of almond. With a texture like runny honey, Selection offers the sweet taste of apples, pears, ginger spice, and acacia honey.
A. de Fussigny Superieur Cognac
Made with 100% fine champagne, the Superieur is Fussigny’s most spiced autumnal cognac. Its aroma and flavour recall milk chocolate, vanilla, speculoos, and dates.
A. de Fussigny XO cognac
The estate’s most fruity and delicate blend, the XO cognac has a shy yet refined aroma, offering notes of chocolate, vanilla, candied fruit, and brown sugar. The palate is deeper and darker, similar to the Superieur, but with tingly spice and increased elegance.
Les Crus
This collection derives its ingredients from the three most prestigious vineyards (or crus) in Cognac. The rich soil of these vineyards has given these cognacs a distinctive yet high-quality flavour profile.
A. de Fussigny VSOP Borderies cognac
Borderie may be the smallest cru in cognac, but it is big on quality. The VSOP Borderie is full-bodied with a nutty butter aroma, accentuated by candied apricots and oranges, fig jam and prunes. The palate is similarly hefty, with a sweet, jammy flavour.
Les Exceptionnels
An exceptionally vintage collection, made using incomparably aged eaux-de-vie to deliver the full flavour of fine cognac through the ages.
A. De Fussigny L’Heritage cognac
Made from the finest eaux-de-vie Grande Champagne has to offer, the Heritage is a unique blend for an unrivalled experience. The delicate aromas of candied fruits give way to a velvety texture, offering a subtle taste of chocolate and cinnamon.
Les Bois
The Pure Organic range contains natural and flawless cognacs made from Ugni Blanc grapes grown in organic vineyards. Free of additives and added sugars or colour, the result is a brand-new tasting experience with unrivalled floral springtime notes.
Food pairings
Here are some foods you can pair with your A. de Fussigny Cognac:
- Cheese: As a rule of thumb, younger cheeses pair well with younger cognacs, while mature cheeses work better with older ones. A creamy cheese like Roquefort or Camembert helps bring out the most luscious qualities of an A. de Fussigny XO cognac.
- Charcuterie: An A. de Fussigny VSOP cognac easily cuts through the rich fattiness of a spicy salami or prosciutto di parma, while A. de Fussigny XO cognac works fine with a pâté or pork rillette.
- Duck: The sweet and sour profile of Peking duck can be rounded out by the maturity of a well-aged cognac.
- Seafood: The lighter flavours of a cognac ensure that it won’t overpower the delicate notes of fresh seafood. An A. de Fussigny VSOP cognac is perfect for cutting through the buttery richness of a lobster craw or crab leg while still amplifying its light citrus notes.
- Dessert: There’s a reason why cognac is considered a dessert alcohol. An A. de Fussigny XO cognac, in particular, works perfectly with dark chocolate truffles or mousse.
How to drink cognac?
Neat or on ice? There is no specific way to drink cognac; it all comes down to your personal preferences. Regardless, a drink as sophisticated and high-quality as A. de Fussigny is best served neat and at room temperature in order to fully appreciate its aromas and flavours.
What can be mixed with cognac?
Looking to make an unforgettable cognac cocktail? Here are some good mixers that complement your A. de Fussigny:
- Tonic: A traditional mixer, tonic enhances the complexity of an A. de Fussigny XO cognac, allowing previously undetectable fruity, floral and spicy aromas to show up.
- Ginger ale: Easily the most popular mixer outside of tonic. The spicy taste of ginger marries well with the fruity richness of cognac, resulting in an exotic and sensual flavour explosion.
- Citrus tonic: The delicate nature of a citrus tonic gives the notes of your cognac room to breathe while also adding a burst of citrus taste for greater vibrancy.
- Cola: Cognac and Coke is a classic mixture. And for good reason, as Coca-Cola helps highlight the fruity undertones of the cognac.
- Lemonade: Pair your A. de Fussigny VSOP cognac with a good-quality lemonade for a sweet yet tart twist.
- Pineapple juice: The smooth, fruity notes of a cognac marries with the lighter, summery sweetness of pineapple, creating the perfect combo for a tropical celebration.
