ALYAN Reserva Carménère. The Carménère grape has a rather wonderful history. This grape had fallen out of favor in French Bordeaux because it was quite susceptible to the devastating grape aphid in the 19th century. A century later, when Carménère was thought to be nearly extinct, Chilean researchers accidentally discovered that it was not Merlot, but Carménère planted in their vineyards!
