AVIATION AMERICAN GIN 42% 70CL
Aviation American Gin is an American-style gin crafted with a blend of botanicals and subtle juniper—designed to be smoother and more versatile than a classic London Dry.
Born in Portland, Oregon and launched in 2006, Aviation later became part of Diageo via the Davos Brands acquisition (with Ryan Reynolds retaining an ownership interest).
Flavor & Aroma (what customers notice)
- A softer, “botanical-forward” style with:
- Gentle juniper
- Citrus peel brightness
- Floral lift (notably lavender)
- Warm spice (cardamom/anise nuance)
Botanicals
Aviation’s botanical blend includes cardamom, coriander, French lavender, anise seed, sarsaparilla, juniper, and two kinds of orange peel.
How it’s made (Production Steps)
- Infusion: botanicals macerated in neutral grain spirit for 18 hours
- Distillation: macerate distilled with water using steam heat
- Cut: heads removed; heart collected; the process takes ~7 hours and the heart cut is 142 proof
- Blend & bottle: proofed down to 84 proof (42% ABV) and bottled
Best Ways to Enjoy
- Gin & Tonic: lots of ice + quality tonic + orange peel or lemon twist
- Negroni: botanical depth + citrus peel plays well with bitters
- Aviation cocktail / Martini-style serves: great if you prefer a smoother, less juniper-dominant profile
