    Description

    BLAIRFINDY BLACKADDER Raw Cask 1992

This BLAIRFINDY BLACKADDER Raw Cask 1992 26-year-old single malt whiskey with the name Blairfindy, which was allowed to mature in a sherry butt, comes from a very popular Speyside distillery. It was bottled in the Raw Cask range of the independent bottler Blackadder in cask strength with 51.6% vol. Limited to 240 bottles.

The whiskeys of the Raw Cask series from the independent bottler Blackadder are bottled undiluted, undyed and completely unfiltered. This is why it can happen that small particles from the barrel, which are detached from the charred inner walls, for example, get into the bottles. This characterizes the high and above all natural quality of the Raw Cask bottlings.

Blackadder’s philosophy is very simple – we believe that the Cask is King. Sixty to seventy percent of the flavours in a whisky are taken up slowly from the cask as the spirit lies maturing in the warehouse. The action of changing temperature draws the spirit in and out of the cask. Every cask is unique, with its own fingerprint. This is why we bottle most of our whiskies from single casks. We don’t believe in chilling or otherwise heavily filtering our whiskies, and we never, repeat never, add caramel colouring and flavouring to our spirits. We have always believed the personalities of our whiskies are colourful enough.

Our leading brand, which is the key focus of our company, is our internationally-acclaimed Raw Cask whisky. These are whiskies from the old school, as they would have been drawn from a cask behind a bar in Scotland back in the 1800s. This was before whisky was chill filtered or heavily filtered – a process which removes a lot of the naturally-occurring oils and esters from the whisky, which is where the flavours are held. To prove that we do not filter our Raw Cask whiskies, you will discover some of the cask sediment in every bottle – this is our assurance of its completely natural and ‘raw’ state. It is the King of Single Casks!
