    Tasting Notes:

Appearance: This Bordeaux wine exhibits a mature and translucent garnet color with brick-red hints at the edges, a testament to its age.

Aroma: The nose is a captivating journey through time, revealing a symphony of aged aromas. It starts with an enchanting blend of dried red fruit, including dried cherries and cranberries, intertwined with subtle notes of figs and prunes. There’s an elegant and complex array of secondary aromas, such as leather, tobacco, and cedarwood, evoking images of well-worn leather armchairs and antique cigar boxes. Hints of underbrush and a faint earthiness provide a glimpse into the wine’s terroir, adding depth and intrigue.

Palate: It is medium-bodied and refined, showcasing the matured fruit flavors of dried red berries and cherries, along with a subtle hint of dried herbs. The tannins, once robust, have softened with age, contributing to a silky and velvety texture that caresses the palate. The wine maintains a remarkable balance, with a gentle acidity that imparts freshness. The oak aging has left a delicate trace of cedar and a faint echo of vanilla, enhancing the wine’s overall complexity.

CHATEAU HAUT BRION 1971. Located in the town of Pessac, Château Haut-Brion is the oldest wine property in the region. Founded in 1533 by the Pontac family, the latter continues to innovate and improve wine-growing techniques. The wines are coveted by monarchs and many writers will sing their praises, including Samuel Pepys: “And there I drank a kind of French wine called Ho-Bryan which had a very special good taste that I had never encountered. .”. The first “branded wine” was born.

It was at Château Haut-Brion, in the middle of the 17th century, that a new style of wine was designed, “the new French Claret”, at the origin of today’s great wines for keeping, a real turning point in wine history. This is also where bottling began at the château.

During a visit, Thomas Jefferson, future third president of the United States. reportedly wrote to his brother-in-law: “I cannot deprive myself of the pleasure of asking you to invest in a lot of wine. This will give you an example of what the best Bordeaux wine is. It comes from the Haut-Brion vineyard.
