Chateau Montifaud VSOP Sabrina Decanter
This VSOP Cognac combines eaux-de-vie sourced from the Petite Champagne region, primarily crafted from Ugni Blanc grapes. Before distillation, the wines are left to rest on the lees for 2-3 months, infusing the blend with bold grapevine and fruit flavors.
The aging process begins in new oak casks for a year before transferring to older oak (aged 4-15 years) for the remainder of the maturation period. This careful aging process can extend up to ten years, significantly longer than the four-year minimum required for a VSOP. The outcome? A Cognac renowned for its remarkable smoothness and delicate hints of pear and apricot on the palate.
For six generations, the Vallet family has upheld the legacy of Château de Montifaud Cognac. They oversee 150 hectares of vineyards in the Grande and Petite Champagne regions, adhering to traditional production methods. Focused on distilling Ugni Blanc grapes and prolonging aging well beyond legal standards, they ensure each Cognac achieves its fullest expression of flavor and quality.
