Tasting notes

The wine has a clear and bright aspect.

The remarkably elegant nose is dominated by lemon and hawthorn aromas with notes of pear.

From a balanced and highly refined attack, the mid-palate leaves an impression of volume, substance and freshness.

Very complex, it reveals mineral and buttery notes and attractive oak as well as citrus, almond and hazelnut flavours, leading into a long and refined finish.

Description

DOMAINE DE BARON’ARQUES Le Chardonnay 2014

DOMAINE DE BARON’ARQUES Le Chardonnay 2014. Produced in the Limoux appellation, in the Languedoc-Roussillon viticultural region, Domaine de Baronarques is a red wine made from a blend of Bordeaux and Mediterranean grapes: 46% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc, 13% Syrah, 9% Malbec and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is matured in barrels (25% in new barrels and 75% in barrels with 1-3 wines).

The 2014 vintage from Domaine de Baronarques 2014 is distinguished by its mild winter that caused the buds to break earlier than previous years. After a mild and wet April and a cool May and June, flowering occurred from June 2-13 (slightly delayed). July and August were cool and rainy, and September and October were hot with little precipitation. This mixture allowed the berries to mature nicely before being harvested in October.

Domaine de Baronarques 2014 reveals a deep, dark colour. In the nose, aromas of ripe fruit, blueberries and blackberries that have light notes of woodiness. After aeration there are empyreumatic notes (liquorice) and spiciness. Domaine de Baronarques 2014 is fresh and precise in the mouth, with elegant tannins. The wine has flavours of red fruits, pepper and spices. The finish is long, complex and has fruity aromas.
