    Description

    GUNDERLOCH Fritz Riesling 2013

GUNDERLOCH Fritz Riesling is a light, dynamic very food flexible and modern 100% Riesling wine in a hip packaging and a balanced style.

This Qualitätswein (QBA) German white wine is lime happiness in a glass. Zesty and zingy with a bright lemon sunset on the finish. Mouth-watering. Pair with glazed ham and salsa.

Though Fritz’s, named for principal Fritz Hasselbach, is a catchy label and name, don’t be fooled. The grapes here come from the same area as their premium wines, grown in a special part of the Rheinhessen called the Roter Hang, or Red Hill.

These slate soils are red in colour, and the iron oxide deposits impart a lot of minerality to the wines. Tangerine, pear, Asian pear, tangerine flows, housed by a beauty lime leaf tension around the edges. There’s a noticeable bump of sweetness here on the juicy, off-dry, waxy palate, well balanced by the zip of acidity.

Located at Nackenheim Rothenburg – regarded as one of the best sites in Rheinhessen for wine production. Specifically, the grapes are sourced from the “Rotter Hang” – or “Red Hill” – on steep, mineral-rich red slate slopes facing the Rhine.
