This year, welcoming the year of the tiger, Maison Hennessy is ushering in the Chinese New Year 2022 with a dreamlike work of art by the internationally renowned artist Zhang Enli. Zhang Enli was born in 1965 in Jilin, China, and is one of China’s most important contemporary artists. Shanghai-based, Zhang works with everyday objects such as a piece of string, a length of pipe, an electric wire, and marbles, and magnifies them into amazing pieces of artwork that mirror the world around us. In all his artwork, his love for nature is always reflected.
Favoring abstract art over figurative representation, Zhang’s interpretation of the Tiger for Hennessy VSOP draws strength from nature, and offers a universal portrait of energy and optimism entitled “Poetry and Wine Welcome the Tiger”. The art by Zhang Enli was transposed into a fluid, dream-like composition in which sprays of water droplets surge up and reconverge into a tiger prowling in the night, following a visit to Hennessy.
This year, the VSOP Hennessy’s especially Chinese New Year special editions is produced in collaboration with French heritage house Bernardaug and hand-decorated in the porcelain maker’s atelier in Limoges.
