KYRO Koskue Barrel Aged Gin
KYRO Koskue Barrel Aged Gin. Created by the same “Adventurous Rye Rye Gentlemen” behind the superb Napue gin, this is a Finnish gin produced in Isokÿro, a small town in the west of the country. The “Rye Rye Gentlemen” first came up with the idea to start the distillery in the sauna! This gin uses the same rye based spirit as the Napue expression, using botanicals including birch, cranberry, meadowsweet and orange peel. The gin has been aged briefly in small oak barrels, before being bottled at a warming 42.6%. The gin has a robustly citrus forward, spicy and juniper-rich palate, with a round vanilla note from the cask. The distillery suggests that you try this in an alternative Old Fashioned as a twist on the classic, but we enjoy this served simply over ice with a few frozen cranberries. This was the winner of a Gold Medal in the 2016 Spirits Business Gin Masters competition, and comes highly recommended. A wonderful option when it comes to barrel aged gin.
