ODDSOCKS Semillon Sauvignon Blanc
Berton Vineyards has used ingenuity and innovation to add a new and surprising twist to this classic Old World wine blend. This dazzling light yellow coloured blend shows light green tints around the edges, with fragrances of lemongrass, passionfruit and lime flowing from its luscious bouquet.
Semillon is a classic white wine blend. It is most widely produced in France, most notably Bordeaux’s Graves district, where both Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon are well-established varieties. Within the Graves lies the world’s most prestigious sweet wine appellation, Sauternes. The most searched-for wine on our database made from these grapes is, unsurprisingly, Château d’Yquem.
More commonly, this versatile combination is used for crisp, dry whites, which may or may not be fermented and/or aged in oak barrels. It has more recently caught on in Australia, particularly in the Margaret River region.
