The English Smokey Single Malt Whisky. Introducing a peated expression to their already fine range, the English Whisky Company have pulled another future classic out of the bag. As the name suggests this is a superbly smoky malt, evident from the first sip to the lingering aftertaste with hints of ginger and vanilla completing the flavour.
Another wonderful release from the East Anglian distillery, the first dedicated English malt distillery for over 100 years. The distillery first decided to produce peated whisky after taking advice from Laphroaig’s Ian Henderson. This whisky certainly packs a peaty punch, being peated to a whopping 45ppm. Unlike the Original, it uses malt bought in from Scotland, as local maltings do not have the facilities for peating the grain. It does remain un-chill-filtered, and without colouring. This is a delectable whisky, with delicate spice notes of ginger, cardamom and aniseed alongside a powerful peat flavour. Something very different, yet delicious!
