THE EPICUREAN Amarone Wine Cask Finish Whisky
The Epicurean Amarone Wine Cask Finish is a limited-edition Lowland Blended Malt Scotch Whisky from Douglas Laing, released as part of The Epicurean’s specialist Wood Finish series. Crafted from 100% Lowland malt whiskies, this expression combines the fresh, zesty and approachable style of Lowland Scotch with the rich influence of Italian Amarone red wine cask maturation.
Initially matured in premium American oak barrels, the whisky is then re-racked for a two-year secondary maturation in a single hand-selected Amarone wine cask from the Valpolicella region of Northern Italy. Bottled at 48% ABV, with no added colouring and no chill-filtration, it preserves the whisky’s natural texture, colour and full flavour.
The Amarone cask adds layers of dark fruit, red berries, cocoa, warm spice and oak depth to The Epicurean’s traditionally bright and grassy Lowland character. On the nose, expect cocoa nibs, dark cherries, acai berries, ginger and cinnamon. The palate is sweet and spicy, revealing red berry richness, nutmeg and warming oak. The finish is long and expressive, with peppery spice, subtle espresso and a tangy raspberry lift.
Ideal for fans of wine-cask-finished whisky, Douglas Laing collectors and drinkers seeking a richer take on Lowland malt, The Epicurean Amarone Wine Cask Finish is a distinctive limited release with both elegance and bold flavour.
