TIFFON Vintage 1995 Grande Champagne Cognac
TIFFON Vintage 1995 Grande Champagne Cognac.
The single Vintage is the ultimate expression of the ephemeral Cognac journey, and it is a fine example of this. Aged for more than two decades, it possesses all of the characteristics that are so highly sought after in a Cognac from the Premier Cru; elegance, suppleness, length on the palate, and the all-important rancio.
Distilled in the town of Jarnac in the Charente tradition, it provides the perfect snapshot of the 1995 harvest in the Grande Champagne, and has been carefully selected just at the right moment – to provide a glimpse into the past with its aromatic quality. Favoring the traditional Charentais distillation method, it has been double distilled in copper stills through a swan’s neck pipe.
Lasting usually about 24 hours, the distillation cycle must be carefully monitored by the distiller. At this point already, the Cognac begins to develop its personality. The Tiffon Cognac house is steeped in history. A family run distillery, it is based at the Chateau de Triac which suffered from fire damage during the Hundred Years’ War. They managed to rebuild from this point, and now the 40 hectares are overseen by cellar master, Richard Braastad.
