ANCNOC Highland Single Malt Whisky
ANCNOC Highland Single Malt Whisky distillery is located in the Aberdeenshire village of Knock and began production in 1894.
When John Morrison discovered the purest, clearest water running from multiple springs on the southern slopes of Knock Hill in 1984, he felt it would be the ideal location for the Knockdhu distillery.

Historically, this distillery’s products were named “Knockdhu,” but were renamed anCnoc to avoid confusion with another distillery. So, Knockdhu Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is now bottled under the Gaelic name anCnoc, pronounced as a-knock, which means “the hill.”
The whisky is produced utilising their original copper pot stills and worm tubs from 100 years ago, which is rare nowadays. As a result, its expressions were unique from those found at larger facilities. The use of worm tubs now is a homage to the history of scotch production, and AnCnoc is proud of it.
Knockdhu’s two originally-designed pot stills are retained, which keeps the signature AnCnoc fruity, honeyed and citric flavour. This also means that it is very similar in style to the whiskey made by the distillery more than 100 years ago.
ANCNOC Highland Single Malt Whisky is a curious whiskey. This fine single malt is made using traditional methods, yet by utilising these established processes we have created a refreshingly modern whisky (reflected in the current bottle design and packaging). The result is a fresh and lighter-tasting single malt of good quality.
This best single malt whisky is aged in a mixture of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry barrels, with no chill filtration or additional colour, lending weight to the malt’s subtle fruitiness.

A good single malt is often the perfect gift for Father’s Day, especially anCnoc’s three whiskeys – ANCNOC 12 Years Old, ANCNOC Peatheart and ANCNOC 18 Years Old.
These whiskeys are best paired with food:
ANCNOC 12 Years Old is best paired with Orkney cheddar parmesan. (The saltiness of the cheese bounces off the sweetness of the whisky, or some good quality vanilla ice cream will tantalise the taste buds). You can also pair it with chocolate!
ANCNOC Peatheart is best paired with blue cheese parmesan, smoked salmon, gravadlax or BBQ meats.
ANCNOC 18 Years Old, on the other hand, is best paired with chocolate.
This whiskey would also make a great gift for a host of special occasions, ranging from birthdays and post lockdown family reunions to drinks with close friends or a relaxed evening alone.
