ANGOSTURA Aromatic Bitters

Dr Johann Siegert, the founder, produced the first Angostura aromatic bitters in Angostura, Venezuela, now known as Ciudad Bolivar, in 1824. Eventually, Dr Siegert’s three sons took over the family company after his death in 1870 and relocated it to Trinidad.

In order to expand the business’s performances, the Siegert brothers entered their bitters into competitions all around the world, demonstrating the quality of their product and gaining worldwide attention when winning said awards.

A cocktail cabinet without Angostura is like a kitchen without salt and pepper. Angostura aromatic bitters offer a layer of complexity, enrich the taste of other ingredients, counteract the harshness of acidic contents, and reduce the harshness of spirits.

But it doesn't end there; it also helps cleanse the palate and aid digestion. Have you ever tried classics like the Old Fashioned, Manhattan, Pink Gin, Sazerac or Mai Tai? Then you've had Angostura aromatic bitters as it is an essential ingredient that adds a perfect balance to sophisticated cocktails and spirit-free beverages.

Everyone always notices the bottle behind the bar, with an oversized label and a bright yellow cap. According to the Drinks International Annual Bar Report 2018, Angostura bitters are the "Number One Selling Bitters" and the "Number One Trending Bitters" in the bitters category. In addition, it has been exported to 165 countries throughout the world.

It is respected and acknowledged as the world's leader in aromatic bitters; no bar or kitchen is complete without it.

Angostura aromatic bitters have a distinct, reddy-brown hue with red brick tones. It has a pungent, spiced, and herbal scent, with orange zest, cardamom, clove, and cinnamon being the most prominent.

Full-bodied flavour explosion with cardamom-flavoured Lebanese coffee, dried fruit, especially orange zest, clove, cinnamon, jasmine, and mint fills the mouth. There is a cracked black pepper spice even when diluted, but it is not 'hot.'

After tasting it, you can feel the long cardamom, clove, cinnamon, and bitter orange zest finish. It is gluten-free and low in sodium and 100% vegan.

It has a unique flavour enhancer (seasoning) for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and savoury and sweet culinary dishes. This concentrated, botanically-infused alcoholic mixture contains water, 44.7% alcohol, herbs, and spices.

Despite the fact that the beverage contains 44.7% alcohol by volume, each dash comprises a small quantity of alcohol and hence stays non-alcoholic. In fact, many countries classify it as a food ingredient.

Since it is intended to be consumed in small amounts as a flavour, this small 4 oz. bottle of bitters may be used for a variety of cocktails.

Because of its delightful flavour and aroma, it has become popular for use in soft drinks and other alcoholic beverages. It adds an exquisite flavour to soups, cereals, salads, vegetables, gravies, fish, grapefruit, fresh, stewed, or preserved fruits, jellies, sherbets, ice cream, many sauces, puddings, mince pies, apple sauce, and all similar desserts, adapting the quantity according to taste.

For those who are acid-sensitive, it tempers the acidity of citrus components, relaxing the stomach.

Safe to say, Angostura Aromatic Bitters is the ultimate multi-tasker.

It works perfectly in whisky drinks like the Old Fashioned and Manhattan, offsetting the richness of the sugar or sweet vermouth.

Because Angostura Aromatic Bitters is rum-based, it works well in rum-based drinks such as tiki drinks; its bitterness and allspice notes balance the sweetness and compliment the flavours of the syrups and liqueurs.

It makes a drink more aesthetically appealing and smells like an island Christmas when sprinkled abundantly over crushed ice beverages or delicately dropped to mark the foam of egg white cocktails like the Pisco Sour.

This type of bitter may benefit you as you can utilise it to make food and beverages by referring to other cocktails or food recipes published in websites or magazines.
