ARRAN Tokaji Aszu Wine Cask
Matured in traditional oak for 8 years, this ARRAN Tokaji Aszu Wine Cask has been finished for 7 months in Hungarian oak (Quercus Petraea) that previously contained tokaji aszu (the proper name for the sweet wine commonly called tokay in English speaking countries). It was bottled in 2007 at 55% ABV.
Arran distillery is a whisky distillery in Lochranza, Scotland, the only distillery on the Isle of Arran. In 1994 Arran Distillers was founded by Harold Currie, former director of Chivas with the intention of building a distillery on Arran. During the construction of the distillery, a pair of Golden Eagles built their nest on a cliff near the distillery; since Golden Eagles are a protected species, construction of the distillery was temporarily halted. The distillery opened in 1995.

Vanilla. Round and very in love. The contribution of aging in wine casks brings very enveloping dimensions, succeeding each other with harmony. Because of its highly sweet side, the pleasure diminishes as we line the sips. Without any doubt, it is a Scotch to savor in small quantities, as digestive. The high alcohol level is paralyzed by the intake of sugar, which makes it sneaky to drink …

Yellow prunes & candied fruit, pasta maraschino cherry syrup and light steel tip. To taste: Fruits followed by smoke. The prunes are back in the final accompanied by ground cherries. Final short and slightly vinous.

Rich spicy and fruity scent, with a good barley background. On the palate, spices and oak, well balanced with fruits and a nice barley sugar. Nice sweet finish that stretches pleasantly. Nice balance, a good classic taste.
