    Caol Ila 2010 Aged 10 Years SMOS (Single Malts Of Scotland), This single malt was distilled at Caol Ila distillery in 2010 and aged for more than 10 years in a single hogshead, yielding a total of 317 bottles. Hiding at the bottom of the cliffs by Port Askaig on Islay’s Eastern shore, Caol Ila has a reputation for producing smoky, maritime whiskies of elegance and poise. It’s arguably at its best uncut and from hogsheads but works with sherry too. This expression promises all the characteristic complexity that the youthful distillate can muster, plus the power to boot at 57.9% Alc./Vol. 317 bottles. Non-chill filtered.

    Caol Ila is the Gaelic name for the Sound of Islay, which separates the island from Jura in one of the most remote and beautiful parts of Scotland’s West Coast. In the classic Islay style, Caol Ila is made predominantly with peated malt and the resulting phenols have a big influence on the final flavor of the whisky, as does the salty coastal air that the casks ‘breathe’ during maturation. One of the most approachable Islay malts.

    The Single Malts Of Scotland range is brought to us by London-based Elixir Distillers. They specialize in independently bottling Japanese and Scottish whisky but also bottle American and Irish whisky from time to time. The company’s three core whisky brands are Elements of Islay, Port Askaig, and The Single Malts of Scotland, while it also bottles navy rum under the Black Tot brand. The Single Malts of Scotland range provides independent bottlings of vintage single malt Scotch from many distilleries and at a variety of ages.

    A young but rather fruity example, not very complex but really drinkable. Simply high-quality spirit. This is an Asia-Pacific exclusive so you won’t find it in Europe, This single malt was distilled at Caol Ila distillery in 2010 and aged for more than 10 years in a single hogshead, yielding a total of 317 bottles. A succulent mélange of juicy fruit and sweet smoke creates a dram to come back to again and again.
