CHATEAU LA CROIX SAINT ANDRE Lalander De Pomerol
CHATEAU LA CROIX SAINT ANDRE Lalander De Pomerol. Château La Croix Saint André is located in Néac in a terroir similar to that of the Pomerol plateau. The very diverse soil, the age of the vines and, most importantly, the way the property is conducted makes Château La Croix Saint André one of the region’s most prominent wineries.
The Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation is comprised of a thousand hectares across the villages of Lalande-de-Pomerol and Néac. It lies just to the north of Pomerol, separated by the Barbanne stream. Château La Croix Saint André is planted with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The Carayon family has been carefully managing these 15 hectares since 1965, part of which is over 100 years old and considered to be the oldest in this appellation.
The whole vineyard has been studied, scrutinized and assessed. Each of the 33 plots are cultivated and cut according to its requirement. Harvested manually at their optimum maturity, the grapes are fermented and aged independently. The vinification process is supervised by the winemaker Stéphane Derenoncourt. Stéphane brings the expertise he has developed within the Classified Growths of Bordeaux vineyards, his respect for the grapes, and the knowledge of how to carefully extract all the flavors with rigorous micro-oxygenation to the Château La Croix Saint André. Many personalities from the world of arts and politics are fans of this wine, one of them being the pianist Arthur Rubinstein (1887-1992) to whom the 1982 vintage had been dedicated.
