GLENCADAM American Oak Reserve
GLENCADAM American Oak Reserve. Founded in 1825, Glencadam is the only remaining distillery in the town of Brechin on the East coast of Scotland. It’s a large part of big name blends such as Ballantine’s and so not that much of it gets released as a single malt – but when Angus Dundee (also owners of the Tomintoul Distillery) took ownership in 2003 they made a more concerted effort to bring it to the public awareness.
With a light, slightly floral note, Glencadam is known for being extremely easy to drink. The use of ex-Bourbon barrels adds a creamy vanilla note, with the youthful age of the spirit adding a spicy edge to the finish. It’s actually a cracking whisky to use in a highball too!
