TASTING NOTES:

  • Nose: A touch of menthol. Classic Sherry notes, less pronounced than the 15 year old perhaps, but the complexity is greater.
  • Palate: Incredibly clean central palate, but amazingly tangy. Really zingy top notes. Sherry and creamy barley, hints of gingerbread and nutty chocolate.
  • Finish: Very, very long and complex finish, oak-rich, hints of smoke, cocoa, buttery…
  • Overall: One of our all-time favourite Speyside malts.
Description

Glenfarclas 25 Year Old

If you like sherried whisky, you will love this super 25 year old from Glenfarclas. It oozes noble blood and devastating class. A great after-dinner whisky so rich and full that it is a dessert in itself, with a finish that goes on forever.

Glenfarclas distillery is a Speyside whisky distillery in Ballindalloch, Scotland. Glenfarclas translates as meaning valley of the green grass. The distillery is owned and run by the Grant family. The distillery has six stills which are the largest on Speyside and are heated directly by gas burners.

The distillery has a production capacity of around 3.5 million litres of spirit per year. Normally four stills are used for production with two kept in reserve.

The distillery has approximately 68,000 casks maturing on site, in traditional dunnage warehouses, with stock from every year from 1953 to the current year. Glenfarclas produce a traditional Highland malt with a heavy sherry influence.

Its all-time classic, Glenfarclas 25yo is the epitome of long-aged sherried Speyside, gorgeously smooth and silkily-textured, with rich, generous flavours of fruitcake, hazelnuts, dried fruit and a hint of dark chocolate and coffee. A thoroughly delightful dram.

Aromas of marmalade, freshly-ground coffee, sherry and honey beguile the senses as the Glenfarclas 25 announces its presence. A full-bodied, subtly smoky expression from the famous family-owned distillery.
