    Description

GLENROTHES 30 Year Old 1989 Single Cask #14056 Xtra Old Particular The Black Series (Douglas Laing)

GLENROTHES 30 Year Old 1989 Single Cask #14056 Xtra Old Particular The Black Series (Douglas Laing) is a Vintage 1989, and aged for 30 years before being bottled in April 2020. This spectacular 30 year old Speyside single malt was laid to sleep at the Glenrothes distillery in May 1989 and bottled by Douglas Laing in April 2020 as yet another exceptional entry into their Xtra Old Particular Black Series – a range which pays homage to their finest and rarest antique single cask whiskies stocks.

Packaged in a luxury gift box with gold foil detail, each bottling is drawn from single cask, proudly offered without colouring or chill-filtration and at natural cask strength. The individually-numbered bottle features a heavily-embossed, metallised logo, and each gift box contains an individual certificate, hand-signed by Fred and Cara Laing.

The Glenrothes is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky. It is made at the Glenrothes distillery located in the town of Rothes in the heart of the Speyside region of Scotland. The distillery sits beside the Burn of Rothes, hidden in a glen on the edge of the town. The Glenrothes distillery is located on the banks of the peaty burn of Rothes. The distillery uses water from the Ardcanny Spring, which the locals call “The Lady’s Well”. Glenrothes first opened in 1879 and was then extended in 1896. Unfortunately in 1922 there was a large fire in the distillery and lots of casks exploded which caused huge quantities of whisky to drain into a local burn. It was then underwent a complete modernization in 1980 and now produces around 1.6 million litres a year.

Every bottle of Glenrothes has the year of bottling and date of distillation. Glenrothes have a very unique bottling that resembles the style of sample bottles found in blending rooms. Most of the whisky produced at Glenrothes is used for the Cutty Sark Scots blend.

Release by our friends at Douglas Laing as part of their XOP Black collection, only 478 bottles of this release are available.
