GORDON & MACHPHAIL Distillery Labels Strathisla 2006
GORDON & MACHPHAIL Distillery Labels Strathisla 2006, was distilled over at Strathisla in 2006, and left to age until 2019. Indie bottler Gordon & MacPhail bottled the single malt at 43% ABV as part of its fabulously retro Distillery Labels series. Gordon and MacPhail have matured this 2006 vintage Strathisla in refill sherry butts. Strathisla is known as a light yet spicy whisky, and this release really does show off some of the best the spirit has to offer. The 12 year old Strithisla bottled by the distillery has been discontinued so this bottling here is a great opportunity to sample this superb Speyside single malt. The style of Strathisla is light and delicate. It is a whisky that takes time to mature and develop its full complexity.
Strathisla is a Speyside distillery located in Keith, Moray. Its distilling license was granted in 1786 and this makes it Scotland’s oldest licensed distillery. The site was used as a brewery by the local monks and when operations shifted to distilling the distillery became known as Milton. That name would only be changed back to ‘Strathisla’ in 1951.

In 1993, the company purchased Benromach Distillery at Forres, in Speyside, which had closed 10 years before. It reopened in 1998, with the first bottlings in 2004.
