Cabernet franc, Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot. Floral and fruity aromas. supple and suave, charming with a nice mid palate, a slight hollow and a small hardness in the finish that sign the vintage, but masked by the usual generosity.

LE CARILLON D’ANGÉLUS Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2012

LE CARILLON D’ANGÉLUS Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2012. “Le Carillon de l’Angelus”  is the second wine of the famous Chateau l’Angelus, which has been produced in the Chateau since 1987. This cuvée of undoubtedly excellent quality is clearly worthy of a higher title than the “second” wine. Vintage 2012  – very juicy and lush in style, with a wonderful soft texture and deep fruity notes in taste and aroma. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, the wine has a good structure that will allow it to be stored and developed for at least 10 years.

Chateau l’Angeluslocated on a small road leading from the Maison du Vin parking lot in Saint-Emilion to the Chateau Canon. The Chateau Angelus vineyard is a collection of different plots of land put together by the Bouar de Laforêt family, one of the oldest in Saint-Emilion, and has existed in its present form since the late 1970s. The owners of the winery are representatives of the fourth generation of the Bouard de Laforest family – cousins Hubert de Bouard de Laforest (Hubert de Bouard de Laforest) and Jean-Bernard Grenie (Jean-Bernard Grenier). In the 1980s, the renowned oenologist Michel Rolland was hired as a consultant. He insisted that all the wine of the estate be aged in small oak barrels, until this moment Chateau Angelus did not know about any aging in oak at all. Since then, the wine from Chateau Angelus has been aged for 18-22 months in 100% new oak barrels. Lactic acid fermentation takes place in small oak barrels, which only small estates with significant funds can afford. The results of this innovation were so overwhelming that in 1996 Chateau Angelus was promoted to Premier Grand Cru status.

Vineyard Chateau l’Angelus , occupying 23.4 hectares, is located on clay-limestone soils. Three grape varieties are grown here: the predominant Merlot (51%), Cabernet Franc (47%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (2%). The average age of the vines is 30-35 years. Planting density – 7000 vines per hectare. Productivity is limited, all work is done manually. Подробнее: https://winestyle.ru
