Tasting notes

Deep gold to the eye with vibrant copper hues, the nose carries hints of lightly toasted caramel and vanilla under fruity notes of citrus and pear. Years of ageing in fine-grained oak also bring out the Noblige’s distinctive woody tones in its aroma.

On the palate, the Noblige offers a smooth and floral sensation, a perfect balance between strength and comfort on the tongue. Accompanying the floral tastes unique to Borderies’ eaux-de-vie are rich vanilla, prune, cedar, and caramelised grapes. Lastly, the drink has a memorable and rich finish while sustaining a good balance and length.

Description

Made by one of the oldest and most globally renowned cognac houses, the Martell Noblige showcases a perfect harmony of strength and smoothness.

The Noblige comes in a sleek and contemporary bottle. Its seamless outline is elegant and luxurious to the eye, evoking a memorable visual experience with just a glance.

Origin of Martell Noblige

The Noblige is a staple in Martell’s signature collection of classic cognacs. Its launch across Singapore last year has effortlessly taken the South East Asian cocktail scene by storm.

“Noblige” stems from the French phrase “Noblesse Oblige”, which translates to the unspoken duty that comes with high status and wealth. As the definition of power and influence changes over the years, it adds an intriguing nuance to the meaning behind this sophisticated and elegant cognac blend.

How is it produced?

White wine made from grapes harvested in France’s Cognac region is double-distilled to form eaux-de-vie. The middle portion of the liquor—the ‘heart’—is then aged in oak barrels. Martell uses clear white wines in their distillation process to retain the full aromas of the grapes.

The blending of different eaux-de-vie is what makes every cognac unique. The Noblige gets its round and powerful flavours from the combination of over 70 eaux-de-vie made from wine grapes harvested in the Borderies region of France, where grapes are known for their exquisite floral notes and smoothness.

Is Martell Noblige a VSOP?

Cognacs classified as Very Superior Old Pale (VSOP) are required to age for at least four years. Because of this process, the resulting product yields lighter and more subtle flavours on the palate.

Though the Martell Noblige is technically a VSOP, it still boasts an explosion of flavours due to its robust formulation of eaux-de-vie. This gives it an unusually complex flavour profile comparable to no other.

How to drink Martell Noblige?

The Martell Noblige can be taken neat, on the rocks, or even in a cocktail. It is usually taken as an aperitif or a digestif, but rarely with food.

Nonetheless, the versatility of the Noblige makes it a drink for all occasions, from parties to wedding anniversaries.

Serving tips

Cognacs on their own give a full and intense experience to the drinker. The addition of mixers like soda and lemonade can prolong the experience while adding a spritz of exciting flavours, inviting a different kind of indulgence.

The Martell Noblige is exceptional in cocktails, thanks to its complex composition of eaux-de-vie and round flavour profile. If you’re a fan of cocktails, you should try crafting these 4 mixes at home:

  • Espresso shot, sugar syrup
  • Plum wine, soda water
  • Lemon juice, rosemary syrup, orange juice
  • Triple sec, lemon juice, citrus zest

Conclusion

The Martell Noblige is an incredibly versatile cognac with abundant fruit aromas and spicy, woody notes. A glass of this timeless blend guarantees to bring out the best in any celebration regardless of how you choose to drink it. Grab a bottle of the prestigious cognac Noblige at a discounted price now
