    Description

    MONKEY SHOULDER With Towel Set

MONKEY SHOULDER With Towel Set. A best selling whisky, the Monkey Shoulder Whisky is actually a mix of three different single malts – Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kinninvie. The three malt components that form Monkey Shoulder blended malt scotch whisky’s smooth, malty and fruit character is a closely guarded secret, featuring an undisclosed combination of different Speyside single malts.

The term Monkey Shoulder harks back to the whisky making heritage. It’s a reference to a condition that maltmen, who worked at distilleries, sometimes endured after long shifts of manually turning the barley. The tough work – working long shifts and turning the barley – had a tendency to cause them to stoop and their arm to hang down. Just like a monkey!

This strain injury is a thing of the past as working conditions have changed, there are still distilleries malting barley by maltman manually. In today’s times, the name Monkey Shoulder lives on as an affectionate tribute, to honour the hard graft of all the maltmen past and present. Cheers!
