OCTOMORE EDITION 09.1 (Hand Signed)
OCTOMORE EDITION 09.1 (Hand Signed), questions the fundamentals of superior single malt Scotch. Confident in its five year age statement, our Head Distiller demonstrates how a focus on raw ingredients and considered distillation can definitively debunk the myth that older is better. Distilled in 2012 from 100% Scottish barley, the 09.1 is matured full-term in top-tier ex-American whiskey casks.
Octomore has an undeniable ability to stimulate debate in single malt circles. Defiantly challenging the established preconceptions of what constitutes a quality whisky, the series itself polarises opinion. Bold and brazen at 5 years old. Super heavily peated. Cask strength. It is the impossible equation. It should not work. Only upon tasting it will you understand its true potential.
Since 2008, we have welcomed this conversation to our doorstep and exposed ourselves to criticism in the hope that we will unlock new realms of flavour. We’ve questioned the elements that contribute towards the depth and balance of each youthful drop. In celebration of this work, four new editions marked with the tell-tale διάλογος will be released over 6 months, each a sensorial exploration of knowledge gained.
The structural brilliance of our .1 editions are a necessary benchmark for each Octomore series. The vitality of the spirit offers an awakening for those bound by the ideology that older is better. It is a proud statement of what can be achieved when Scottish barley is distilled in tall, narrow necked copper pots, before spending five short years in ‘active’ American oak.
