Remy Martin VSOP with Glass
Rémy Martin VSOP is composed of eaux-de-vie coming exclusively from the highest-quality vineyards of Cognac, the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. Such eaux-de-vie offer an exceptional ageing potential and are known as Cognac Fine Champagne.
In 1927, Rémy Martin’s Cellar Master André Renaud created the very first VSOP Fine Champagne. Moreover, it is a truly visionary and audacious decision. This prestigious appellation would be officially recognized 11 years later as an AOC. AOC= (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée – a specific growing area protected by French law).
THREE CENTURIES OF CRAFTING THE FINEST COGNAC
The House of Rémy Martin will forever intertwine with the lands of Charente in the year of 1724. It is in this small piece of French terroir that our signature blend of Grande and Petite Champagne crus was born. Furthermore, it is together forming the Cognac Fine Champagne. The secret to the most aromatic grapes lies in the soil in which the vines grow. We use fruit from only quality vineyards. Furthermore, the pale and chalky soil of the region provides the ideal conditions to ripen the grapes to perfection.
An excellence cultivated by patience and devotion, the House is a guardian of time. By focusing on the Cognac Fine Champagne, we chose to privilege ageing the grapes. In addition, we allow them to fully reveal and express their true character. In fact, we pass down from generation to generation. Furthermore, this approach is at the heart of our cognac—extraordinary eaux-de-vie with a complex palette of rich and unique aromas.
CELLAR MASTER FROM 1960 TO 1990
In 1981, legendary Cellar Master André Giraud decided he wanted to pay tribute to the three-century-long union between Grande and Petite Champagne that lies at the heart of Rémy Martin. The result was the Rémy Martin XO-an extra-old cognac with a captivating explosion of fragrances. For more than 30 years, the XO has been an emblem of the unparalleled excellence of this signature blend.
Embodying the unique essence of the land, we matured the XO to perfection over time and perfectly balanced between the mellow yet robust eaux-de-vie of the Grande Champagne, and the sweet softness of the Petite Champagne. Following one to two years of “marriage” in the barrels, the eaux-de-vie of Cognac Fine Champagne form a complex fragrance with a luxurious texture. Its exceptional smoothness is laced with an understated bouquet of aromas: floral scents of jasmine and iris enhanced by deeper notes of ripe autumn fruit, undercut with a hint of cinnamon, freshly ground hazelnuts and a hint of woody tobacco.
Enjoy it like its creator André Giraud does—neat, no mixer, no ice.
