Description

River Delta Sauvignon Blanc

River Delta Sauvignon Blanc, A lifted nose of grapefruit and citrus blossom with a fresh herb note. A succulent and flavourful palate with passionfruit, grapefruit and white currant. A mineral note leads to a long lingering, zesty finish with a silky texture. Fresh aromas of passionfruit, green apple and blackcurrant, with a hint of sea salt. An intensely flavoured palate with layers of tropical passionfruit, blackcurrant and mineral notes. The weighty palate has a long and lingering finish.

2019 was a fantastic vintage, with a small crop of intensely flavoured grapes. The grapes were machine harvested and transported promptly to the winery to be lightly pressed, The juice was lightly settled, then cool fermented with selected yeasts in stainless steel tanks, in order to retain the vibrant fresh flavours and intense aromatics. The fruit was sourced from a selection of vineyards across Marlborough’s fertile Wairau Valley area. Each vineyard’s yield was carefully managed and fruit monitored throughout the growing season. The grapes were harvested upon reaching the desired flavour spectrum and maturity.

Marlborough is New Zealand’s most important wine region by far. Situated at the northeastern tip of the South Island, this dry, sunny region is home to more than 500 growers and produces more than three-quarters of all New Zealand wine. Vineyard area exceeded 26,000 hectares (64,250 acres) in 2018. It is particularly famous for its pungent, zesty white wines made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety, which dominates the Marlborough vineyards. In 2017 the variety accounted for 79 percent of vineyard surface area and 86 percent of regional production.

Our gold medal 2020 Delta Sauvignon Blanc is classic and vibrant, showing layers of passionfruit, blackcurrant and smooth mineral notes. Selected from a single vineyard in the Lower Wairau Valley of Marlborough, New Zealand and fermented in stainless steel to retain the fresh and fruity characteristics, this wine is the perfect accompaniment to fresh seafood and fish dishes.
