Saicho Darjeeling Sparkling Tea
Saicho Darjeeling Sparkling Tea is a 0% single-origin sparkling black tea made with summer-harvested Darjeeling tea from the Gopaldhara Tea Estate in India. Cold brewed and gently carbonated, it presents the estate’s muscatel character in a 750ml bottle, with a dry, food-friendly profile rather than the sweetness of a soft drink.
This expression contains 93% cold-brewed Darjeeling tea, supplemented with white grape juice from concentrate, citric acid, vitamin C and carbon dioxide. The black tea is grown at 2,000 metres at Gopaldhara Tea Estate in Darjeeling, using China and clonal cultivars. Saicho harvests the tea in summer, a season selected for its distinctive muscatel character.
The liquid shows a deep golden-amber hue. Bergamot oil, pink grapefruit, sandalwood and saffron lead the aroma, while mandarin, ginger and wood spice develop across the taste. Gentle dry tannins give structure and carry the flavour into a long, composed finish.
Serve well chilled in a Champagne or white-wine glass as an alcohol-free aperitif or alongside a meal. Its dry tannic character and wood-and-citrus profile make it especially suitable with grilled meats, lasagne, charcuterie or roasted vegetables.
