The Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Gift Pack Limited Edition Design 2023 is specially made to welcome the new cycle in the Chinese Lunar Calendar. For this upcoming festive season, Glenfiddich has collaborated with Shenzhen-based artist Rion Wang to create a special edition festive pack for its core range of single malts. 

Glenfiddich means the ‘Valley of the Deer’ in Gaelic, hence the reason the royal stag is used as its iconic symbol, symbolizing prestige and prominence in the single malt scotch whisky industry. To depict the spirit of the stag, Wang highlighted the 12-pointed antlers that denote the brand’s royalty, while the ribbon and medals symbolize Glenfiddich’s status as the most-awarded single malt in the world.

History and origin

Glenfiddich was established in 1886 by William Grant in Dufftown, Scotland, and it is one of few distilleries to remain entirely family-owned. He built the distillery by hand with the help of his nine children and named the distillery ‘Glenfiddich’.  

Glenfiddich was one of the first brands marketed as a single malt. Today, they are the world’s best-selling and most award-winning single malt whisky, sold in nearly 180 countries worldwide.  

How is Glenfiddich 15 made?

Glenfiddich 15-year-old expression is crafted using the Solera technique innovated by malt master David Steward. Inspired by the sherry bodegas of Spain, he designed a custom-built Solera Vat to add extra layers of smoothness and sweetness to the single malt with complex layers of warm spice, honey, and fruit.

The Glenfiddich 15 was first aged for at least 15 years in European and American Oak casks that once contained sherry and bourbon that helped infuse intriguing aromas and flavours as they matured. Then, with careful timing, these casks are introduced to one another in the Solera Vat to be rested. 

When it is ready, the whisky is moved into oak marrying tuns for some time before bottling to ensure a complex, layered and distinctive flavour profile that’s admirably smooth and consistent.

Tasting Notes

This remarkable single malt whisky has a beautiful golden colour with a red hue, the nose of sweet heather honey and vanilla fudge combined with dark chocolate. It is silky smooth on the palate, exposing layers of sherry oak and marzipan, concluding with a kick of cinnamon and ginger. The mouthfeel is velvety with a long, mellow, and satisfying finish.

How do you drink Glenfiddich 15 Year Old?

Unlike other liquors that should be served chilled, enjoy the Glenfiddich 15-year-old single malt at room temperature to maximize its flavour and aroma.

Besides adding a splash of water to the whisky to integrate its distinct flavour, you may also serve it on the rocks, with club soda, or with ginger ale to enjoy the Glenfiddich’s rich oaky flavours and sweet taste. 

However excited you are to drink your whisky, remember to let it rest on your tongue for a while before swallowing to taste.

Food pairings

Consuming single malt Scotch whisky with food helps to open up the aroma and flavour of the drink. However, it is all up to personal preferences on how you drink it.

Main: Duck with seasonal vegetables in consommé. The dried fruit notes of the single malt will work exceptionally well with the duck meat, while the mouthfeel of the rich salty broth is perfect for the full-bodied honey sweetness of the whisky.
