Glenmorangie 26 Years Old 1993 Truffle Oak Reserve

    RM 15,888

This rare 26-year-old single malt whisky was hand-selected by Dr Bill Lumsden, our award-winning Master Distiller, especially for this opportunity.

It is one of Glenmorangie’s most unique and rare whiskies. Created from the last truffle oak casks in our warehouses, only 1,000 bottles exist. There are no plans to release truffle oak whiskies in future.

Aged 26 Years (First aged for 10 years in bourbon casks, then finished for 16 years in truffle oak casks from Germany’s Black Forest)

    Tasting Notes:

    Colour: Mahogany

Aroma: Fragrant and woody, with toffee, hazelnuts, truffles and hints of damp forest floor. Aged balsamic vinegar soon comes to the fore, alongside coconut, roasted chestnuts, cedar and rye bread’s distinctive scent. A little water releases more of the oak’s aromas of nuts, vanilla and pine resin.

Palate: A peppery mouthfeel brings a tropical wave of peach, passionfruit, melon and smoked pears. Milk chocolate follows on, contrasted by deep, truffle notes and a scattering of pecan nuts.

Finish: Long, sweet and nutty, with tantalising menthol and a suggestion of cinnamon.

    Description

Glenmorangie 26 Years Old 1993 Truffle Oak Reserve

Singularly deep and complex, this rare single malt is long finished in ‘truffle oak’ casks crafted from the oak trees of Germany’s Black Forest. Their exceptionally porous wood, seldom used at Glenmorangie, brings a distinctive nuttiness to our spirit.

Years ago, Dr Bill Lumsden became inspired by the natural balance between these trees and the black truffles which nestle in their roots. Intrigued to explore their influence on Glenmorangie’s classic, fruity style, he filled a handful of casks with our signature single malt.

Finished in those casks for two years, our first limited edition of Truffle Oak Reserve was released in 2005. But believing time’s alchemy could bring forth a more extraordinary whisky still, Dr Bill set aside four select casks for a remarkable 16-year finish.

Bottled in its prime, aged 26 years (First aged for 10 years in bourbon casks, then finished for 16 years in truffle oak casks from Germany’s Black Forest), his creation deliciously balances Glenmorangie’s tropical fruit notes with nutty, truffled depths
